About Us
Steve and Barbara Mechler opened their business in 1982. Steve worked for the C.L. Hylen Company from January 1980 until Mr. Mechler bought the company in 1982. The business has grown from a small one room office that represented four companies to a stocking, computerized warehouse that represents companies spanning the commercial plumbing, HVAC, electrical and civil areas. In 2018, the decision was made to change the name of the company to Mechler-Blass Associates. Bryan Blass has become a valued part of the company and is the next generation to lead the company forward.
Many companies we represent are concerned with environmental conservation. Water conservation in particular is a specialty of ours. We help collect, convey and contain water for reuse or to assist in LEED and LID applications.

Our goals are to provide customer dedication and satisfaction through the highest level of service excellence, commitment and strategic partnerships with our customer base, as well as representing the highest quality of manufacturers in the market place. While we strive to maintain these goals, we will always keep God, Family and Country as a priority. Integrity and honesty is not the exception, it is the rule. Without these qualities, we are out of business. We intend to live up to these qualities every day.

Mechler-Blass Associates services mainly the South Central Texas area, from Ft. Hood, Killeen-Temple, Austin, Victoria, Corpus Christi, Rio Grande Valley, Laredo, Del Rio, Junction and all areas in between.
Our People
President
Steve founded Steve Mechler & Associates in 1982 with his wife Barbara. Steve was born in Medina County, grew up on a farm and ranch in the Castroville-LaCoste area of South Texas. Steve graduated from Southwest Texas State University with Honors in 1975. Steve has 4 children and 11 grandchildren. Steve enjoys fishing in the gulf coast in his sparetime.
Vice-President
Bryan has been with Steve Mechler & Associates for 20 years. He started in the warehouse, working his way through the company from quotations to sales. He received his CPMR degree in the fall of 2013. Bryan is the proud father of three boys and a daughter. Bryan is an avid outdoors enthusiast. Currently he spends much of his free time with his family either on the water fishing or in the wilderness hunting.
Inside Sales
Tom D. Knight Jr. has been doing inside and technical sales for over 21 years with Steve Mechler & Associates, including sales manager, quotations, purchasing and warehouse management. He worked for five years as technical sales, quotations and as South Texas manager for another large rep firm. Tom has held his plumbing license for over 30 years and has worked for over 10 years as general manager and estimator for a major plumbing company. Tom has been married for over 22 years and has two daughters in college. He is of proud Native American descent and a member of the Chickasaw Nation. Tom is an Eagle Scout with Silver Palm and Vigil Honor-Order of the Arrow. He is an elder at Concordia Lutheran Church. Tom's hobbies are fishing, photography and gardening.
Outside Sales
Dan Knight has been in the plumbing industry for over 30 years. He has been with Steve Mechler & Associates for the last ten years. As an outside salesman, he helps our customers with sales and assists with the design of Condensate/Rainwater Harvesting Systems. He is committed in providing environmentally conscious designs and products. Dan is a member of the American Rainwater Catchment System Association and the Texas Rainwater Catchment Association. Dan can walk you through every step required to ensure a water tank meets your specific requirements. Dan was born and raised in San Antonio. He is a member of the Chickasaw Nation and serves as the President of the Chickasaw Community of South Texas. In his spare time, he likes to fish and do wood working.
Shipping and Receiving
Eddie has been with Steve Mechler & Associates since 2014. Eddie is in charge of all warehouse activities.
